Luigi Masotto, the Italian dressage judge and president of the Gruppo Italiano Dressage, died tragically in an accident at work On Friday 26 June 2009. The Italian equestrian world is in shock with the untimely passing of this major dressage supporter.
Luigi was an energetic, enthusiastic sportsman. He was a national dressage judge and worked as an international equitation judge. His contribution to the horse sport was great: he was a rider, a trainer and sponsor of riders and events. He organized many national dressage competitions in Italy.
Luigi was a sensible, friendly and generous man, and his family is following his example. Maria and Piera consented to organ donation, moreover they asked to not send flowers but make donations in favour of Luigi's last enterprise: a kindergarten for the children of the earth quake destroyed town of Abruzzo
This weekend, the Italian team at the 2009 European Equitation Championship is competing with a black ribbon on the horse in memory of his international judge. Masotto should have been part of the ground jury in Portugal, but his destiny was different.
Luigi will live on in the hearts of everyone who met him.
