Two rounds, two wins: Catherine Haddad who starts for the USA has won both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special at her Danish horse Cadillac. Haddad, who currently lives and trains in Vechta/Germany, has dominated the CDI*** at the very world reknown competition of Hickstead. The traditional jumping event this year hosted a CDI***-tour and the CDI*****-tour which belongs to the World Dressage Masters Tour.
“Cadillac showed real maturity and expression in the Piaff-Passage-Tour in both tests. He gave me a super feeling, he was energetic and offered so much to me. I think in the Grand Prix he showed his best Piaff-Passage-Tour ever which makes me very happy”, Haddad said. The pair achieved 70.511 percent in the Grand Prix before Kenneth Dyrby/USA in the saddle of Nanette (67.021%) and French Hubert Perring on Diabolo St Maurice who achieved 65.830 percent.
Haddad who is known for her straight flying changes was able to take the win in both tests. In the Grand Prix Special she achieved 69.667 percent before Sarah Millis on O’Neill. With the two wins of Hickstead CatherineHaddad has achieved her eighth win this year: She has already won six Grand Prix classes with Cadillac like in Vidauban, Leipzig, Neumünster and Meppen. “It is going really well this year for us. I hope we can continue that form. My goals are the world championships in Kentucky next year.”

It wasn't a big surprise that Edward Gal and Totilas would win the World Dressage Masters Grand Prix at the CDI Hickstead but everyone was looking out for the return of Adelinde Cornelissen on Parzival. It was the pair's first performance since the horse got injured at the 2009 World Cup Finals in April. They looked energetic and smooth, but the contact with the bit was not as light as usual. Parzival moved with much brio and power but looked hard in the bridle and even stuck his tongue out during the collected walk right in front of the judges! Nevertheless they finished second with 76.553%, just ahead of Laura Bechtolsheimer. The promised Live Streaming failed!! At the beginning the volume for the commentary was so low you could hardly hear Wayne Channon and Matt Frost speak and by the time Laura Bechtolsheimer entered the ring (right before Schellekens and Gal), the streaming fell out and left MANY viewers totally disillusioned! We hope they'll fix it for the freestyle because this was very disappointing.
