Andretti, Ziesto and Wynton have won the first leg of 2009-2010 KWPN Stallion Competition held at the national dressage and show jumping competition in Assen, The Netherlands, on October 22, 2009.
Theo Hanzon and the black licensed KWPN stallion Andretti (by Special D x Sandro Hit) scored 85 points and won the L-level division. The black stallion scored a 9,5 for canter but the walk only got 7,5 as it is limited in its ground cover. Hans Peter Minderhoud and Armani (by United x Jazz) finished second with 79 points. The super tall, 17.2 hh stallion excelled in canter. Diederik van Silfhout and Arlando (by Paddox x Mytens xx) ranked third with 78 points.
Gerdine Maree had her hands full steering the unconcentrated bay KWPN stallion Ziesto (by Lancet) through the test. The judges loved his trot and canter and were still very generous in scoring the mediocre walk a 7. Ziesto totalled 83,5 points to win the class. Theo Hanzon and Zardando (by Tango x Gribaldi) were the runners-up with 78 points. Nikkie Schaap and the chestnut Zjengis (by Rousseau x Rubinstein) placed third with 75,5 points. Only four stallions competed at M-level. Zanzibar (by Special D) was pulled out of the competition. Zhivago (by Krack C x Jazz) was unlevel in the warm up and was withdrawn.
Only two Z-level combinations showed up for the first leg of the KWPN Stallion Competition. Madeleine Witte-Vrees and the black stallion Wynton (by Jazz x Matador II) scored 83,50% with their ZZ-light level test. The walk and trot were the the highlight movements, though the canter scored high as well. Only the quarter pirouette was not so accurately ridden. Emmelie Scholtens and Westenwind (by Flemmingh x Contango) placed second with 74%. The horse scored solid 8s for his walk and canter but the trot was too hurried.
