2009 Swedish Young Rider Championships

Sara Henrietta Bergstrom-Kallstrom won the 2009 Swedish Young Riders Championships held during the national dressage show in Helsingborg, Sweden, October 29 - November 1, 2009.

Jan Brink's student Bergstrom-Kallstrom swept the board winning all three qualifiers with solid scores in the seventies. Aboard the Swedish warmblood Garcia (by Bernstein x Brisard), Sara Henrietta totalled an average of 72,80%.

"Everything went totally right today," said Bergstrom-Kallstrom after her kur. "Garcia was superb and I like my kur with Coldplay songs and Rybak's Fairytale." Brink's prodigy has also been competing in the senior classes since 2008 but she went for the opportunity to grab the national gold medal in her own age division. "It is more relaxed to the ride the senior competitions but the Swedish Young Riders Championships are fun."

The silver medal went to Johanna Due Boje on Brownie, a Swedish warmblood gelding by Bernstein x Ganesco offspring, bred by Ester and Karl-Erik Jönsson. This combination were the champions in 2008 but now had to settle for silver.

"I will be in Holland with Anky van Grunsven for the rest of my young riders time and the first year as senior," said Due Boje. This recipient of the Ajax Stipend will devote this money to her training in The Netherlands and the money has enabled her to stay there longer as planned.

The bronze medal was captured by Ida Kristoffersson aboard her almost buckskin coloured bay Ravell. The 17-year old Kristoffersson is in her first year of young riders and is trained by Louise Nathhorst. With her 16-year old Ravell, which she took over from her older sister Mia, Ida improved throughout the competition to finish in third place with a 67,82% average score.
