Famous in the 1990s, sold to the States in 2002 and now auctioned in a reduction sale; this is the strange path of Hanoverian licensed stallion Bergamon. On 21 November 2009, the 15-year old Bergamon sold for $47,000 at the Stargate Reduction Sale Auction.
As an 8-year old Bergamon sold to the Texan based Stargate Farms in the early 2000s. This bay stallion (by Baryshnikov x Pik Konig) is bred by Ingo Pape and sired licensed breeding stallion and Grand Prix horse Baroncelli as well as Grand Prix horse Bugatti Hilltop. He has been sold to Dennis Schwartz and will stand at Saddlebrook Equestrian Center with Texan trainer Paige Peters-Windham.
The auction catalogue mentioned that Bergamon has surgery to his ankle in August 2008 and that he requires "an experienced, professional handler."
Stargate auctioned two of the three stallions they stand at stud. The other one is the 14-year old KWPN stallion Nassau (by Roemer x Uniform) sold for only $10,000. He sold to Emily Reed, a former trainer at Stargate.
