Andretti, Zhivago and Wynton have won the second leg of 2009-2010 KWPN Stallion Competition held during Dressage Day at the national show in Hengelo, The Netherlands, on December 2, 2009.
The four year old stallions rallyed for the L-level test which was won by Theo Hanzon aboard Andretti (by Special D x Sandro Hit). The gorgeous black colt excelled in canter but lacked ground cover in walk. He scored 81 points in total and beat Ampere, which is now ridden by Emmelie Scholtens. The American owned Rousseau x Flemmingh offspring has been leased to Gerd Sosath in Germany but will be campaigned by Scholtens in Holland for the KWPN Stallion Competition. The new duo achieved 80,5 points. Scholtens also finished third with Apache (by UB40 x Krack C) on 80 points.
Theo Hanzon and the 5-year old Zhivago (by Krack C x Jazz) won the M-level test with 84,5 points. Zhivago, the reserve licensing champion and performane test winner of 2007, was generously decorated with 9 for general impression, 8,5 for trot, canter and suppleness and 8 for walk. Gerdine Maree and the bay approved stallion Ziesto (by Lancet x Clavecimbel) performed with much power despite the fact that the stallion was tense and distracted. They totalled 81 points with a 9 for trot. Theo Hanzon also captured the third place with Zardando (by Tango x Gribaldi) on 77 points.
A mere three combinations were entered for the Z-level test. The class was won by the winner of the first leg in Assen, Madeleine Witte-Vrees and the black stallion Wynton (by Jazz x Matador II). They scored 76.75% with their ZZ-light level test and beat Emmelie Scholtens and Westenwind (by Flemmingh x Contango) placed second with 72%. Sabine Ruitenbeek and the 7-year old grey colt Velazquez (by Krack x Alasca) lacked self carriage and power behind and scored 66.25%.
