The German Equestrian Federation announced the appointment of Jürgen Koschel as the new trainer of the shooting star Grand Prix riders who are members of the "Perspektivgruppe Dressur". The Berlin born, but Hagen based Koschel is taking over from Jonny Hilberath who can now focus more on the training of the German Grand Prix A- and B-team in support of chef d'equipe Holger Schmezer.
The 63-year old Koschel has been part of the German Olympic Equestrian committee trainers' team since 2007. He was already in charge of the training of riders at the military sport school as well as the national training centre in Warendorf. Koschel will now also devote his time to educating youth riders and Under 25 dressage riders.
Koschel resigned as trainer of the Swiss dressage team exactly two years ago in January 2008. Before that, he also trained the teams in Holland, Finland and Spain.
The "Perspektivgruppe Dressur" includes young Grand Prix riders Marion Engelen, Carola Koppelmann, Helen Langehanenberg, Anna-Katharina Lüttgen, and Matthias-Alexander Rath.
