The Davison family is on winning form, rolling from a CSIO-YR victory in Moorsele, Belgium into a World Cup qualifier conquest in Lipica, Slovenia.
Richard Davison and Hiscox Artemis posted their best performance to date at the 2010 CDI-W Lipica, Slovenia 27 - 30 May. One week earlier, the British dressage team captain coached his son Joe Davison on the grey Egano Star to team gold at the CSIO-YR in Moorsele.
Richard partnered the Countess of Derby’s 16.2hh Westfalian gelding Artemis (by Florestan) to score 70.68% in the Grand Prix and 76.05% in the Kur to Music. In the freestyle he achieved a massive five percentage points over second place Peter Gmoser and Cointreau from Austria on 71.55%.
With such promising results, Richard is understandably excited for the future. “With the freestyle as a World Cup qualifier, this win puts us in early poll position for the 2011 World Cup,” said Davison. “Hiscox Artemis is improving all the time and with two personal bests this weekend –his scores reflect that. He was completely error-free, light and uphill— an absolute pleasure to ride.”
Richard's wife Gillian also made her appearance at Lipica, home of the famous Lippizaner horses. Aboard Hiscox Aliano she placed eighth in the Prix St Georges.
"It was great to go back to Lipica," Davison told Eurodressage. "It is a really good showground with nice facilities. The organisers are really friendly and the weather was sunny most of the time."
The Davison family was happy to meet up with old friends such as Christine Stuckelberger, Christilot Boylen and Gyulla Dallos. "It almost made me feel like the young one again," Richard joked.
Richard and Hiscox Artemis will be in action again on home soil at the CDI Hartpury and CDIO Hickstead in July.
