The equestrian events of the 2010 season are over, and they have shown, in both a positive and negative way, that a combination can only really perform successfully when the horse is happy. The aim of the CSW auction, whose third edition will be held on April 7, 2011, is to help interested dressage enthusiasts find such happy and quality sports partners.
The first two auctions have already brought together several combinations whom everybody has been talking about. The young German dressage rider Carolin Fehlings was successful with Fritz San Tino in Young Riders competitions, reaching the final of the German Young Riders Championships in Aachen. The five-year-old Oldenburg mare Fatheema qualified for the prestigious LVM-Championships, which will be held at the start of 2011 in the Halle Münsterland. And the Luxembourg-based Dane Kristine Möller earned plenty of applause at the 2010 Bundeschampionat for her ride on the five-year-old dressage prospect Freak Blue Phantom.
That is enough reason for the two creators of CSW to unveil the third edition: Fabian Scholz, Pferdewirtschaftsmeister and owner of a competition and sales yard, and Susanne Miesner, herself successful up to Grand Prix in dressage and an experienced FN (German National Federation) trainer, want to show off even more talent in the horse world and, with their auction in 2011, keep the predominant focus on the well-being of the horse, which is intrinsically connected with long-term joy and pleasure for the rider.
‘As always, we place a lot of emphasis on the candidates coming from selected breeders, whose breeding and basic training philosophy coincides with our own’, explains Fabian Scholz. ‘This implies a patient training system, which respects the horse’s age, and in which the horses are still challenged, but not strained’, added Susanne Miesner.
The final weeks of the auction preparations at the Wietelshof will follow a tried-and-tested programme: the horses are ridden in the morning and, while those last out of the stables are being tacked up, those who have already been schooled are already tasting the fresh air out in the paddocks. Such regular turnout allows them to take in the environment, which is just as important for their immune system as it is for their nerves. The horses will then be presented ridden by their habitual rider. The auction horses can be tried out at any time by prior telephone arrangement. However, nobody will have to turn down the lights on auction night, since the horses will all be presented in-hand during the auction: everything is taken care of, right down to the very finest detail.
