Megan Bryant and her dark bay mare Donnabella (by Don Ramiro x Salute) have gained the highest overall percentage in the Individual Freestyle across 2010 CDI-Y events in Australia and qualified as Australian representative
for the 2010 Young Rider World Cup Final at the CDI-W Frankfurt in December.
The 19-year old Bryant competed in two of four qualification shows as Donnabella wasn't competing Prix St Georges when the first two qualifiers were on. She gained a wild card entry for the CDI Sydney as she didn't have a qualifying score before the close of entries. Megan went into the competition just wanting to compare her score against the other young riders who have been competiting at this level for years, and to Megan’s surprise she won the individual competition. The next day was the freestyle which Megan also won with 70.25%.
The FEI confirmed overnight that Megan and Donnabella are the combination that will represent Africa/Asia and the Pacific in Frankfurt, Germany. Megan and Donnabella will leave for Germany next month to prepare for the competition in December.
They will be competing against thirteen other combinations from across the globe, including New Zealand rider Georgia Worth and her horse, Veritas, with whom Donnabella will travel on the horse flight to Germany.
Bryant's Donnabella was bred by Ros Oatley and trained by Matthew Dowsley as a young horse. She was bought by Georgie Farrar as a 5 year old and Bryant purchased
her from Georgie in early 2009.
Alexis Hellyer and Waca W are the reserve combination for this competition, after coming in a close second place overall.
