Dressage stallions Astrix and Connaisseur have been selected to start the KWPN licensing process at the viewing of older stallion held after the final exam of the young colts at the 2010 KWPN Autumn Stallion Performance Testing in Stegeren, The Netherlands.
Two "older" stallions have been selected to continue to the second viewing in the process of becoming approved for the Dutch warmblood society.
Rising 6-year old Astrix did not go to the licensing as a 3-year old because he was too small and had some health issues. Bred by Eef Ten Bosch, Astrix is by Obelisk (by Matador/T) out of Upshot (by Olivi x Fruhling). Because Astrix won the 2010 World Young Horse Championships in Verden as a 5-year old, owners Peter and Marijke Perlee decided the time could be ready to get him licensed. The KWPN licensing committee agreed to take along Astrix on the path towards licensing but the dark bay stallion will have to compete in the mandatory KWPN/KNHS Stallion Competition this winter.
The second accepted stallion is the Westfalian and Swedish warmblood licensed Connaisseur (by Con Amore x Donnerhall). Bred by Fenna Schulte-Landwehr and owned by Canadian Sara Pocockn, Connaisseur stood up for stud at Flyinge in Sweden in 2010.
