A new version of the now famous Elton John freestyle of Richard Davison and Hiscox Artemis has been created. The original Kur, personally supported by Sir Elton John and played by the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra, was premiered at the London Olympia Horse Show in 2008. The kur was recently described by leading Olympic judge Stephen Clarke as “artistically beautiful and fabulous choreography" and has clocked up numerous freestyle victories across Europe with scores approaching 80%.
The original Kur was arranged by one of the world’s most respected freestyle gurus – Joost Peters. From his studio in Holland Peters explained the timings behind the refinements.
“We always had a plan to perform this freestyle in two stages. Hiscox Artemis has now become more powerful in his way of moving and we feel it is the right time to unveil this new ‘power version’ which has a higher degree of difficulty and forward dynamics.”
Peters, who was responsible for the world record breaking kur of Totilas, has added electric guitars and exciting drum routines to get everyone rocking in the lead up to Christmas.
As well as competing, Davison has the pleasure of performing his usual organiser duties including meeting the lucky winners of a recent Hiscox Competition who won VIP tickets to the show including a tour of the stable and warm-up areas.
Hiscox Artemis is owned by the Countess of Derby, famous for her family’s connection with the classic horse race, and John Dodd. Hiscox, the specialist insurer, is the proud sponsor of Hiscox Artemis and has committed to backing Davison and the horse for the next two years.
