The Dutch Equestrian Federation and KWPN society called out for candidates who want to represent The Netherlands at the 2011 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, 3 - 7 August 2011. Each year the Dutch organize a series of selection trials and training sessions in preparation of this important show.
The 30 best horses of the 2010 Pavo Cup Finals, including the winners of the regional Pavo selection trials, are automatically invited to the first WCYH selection trial. The five highest placed Dutch finalists of the 2010 WCYH and the best five horses of the KNHS Subli Championships Finals are also invited. A special WCYH selection committee determines which horses will compete in Verden after a series of observation trials.
The KNHS and KWPN have decided that for 2011 they will make available four wild card positions, two per age division, for the selection trials. Riders who believe they have a special 5 or 6-year old can enlist to participate at the first observation trial held on 5 April 2011. They have to email Joyce Lebon before 28 February 2011. The horse has to be KWPN or NRPS registered in the foal book or in the A-register.
As the KWPN/KNHS do not know yet how many horses will be registered for the first trial, a programme is not yet available. The requirements, however, are:
- The selection committee only selects combinations they believe can complete the entire selection process with success
- No test will be ridden
- Horses will be judged on quality and correctness
- Multiple combinations will be present in the arena at the same time
- Horses have to be trained at the required level of the FEI Young Horse Test, ridden at the WCYH
