Canadian WEG team rider Ashley Holzer has a new horse to ride: Ultiem's Flemming. Through mediation of Patrik Kittel, the 9-year old Dutch warmblood gelding (by Akribori x Ronald) sold to a client of Holzer's and has moved to New York where Ashley is based.
Ultiem's Flemming was owned by Stable Flemming, which bought the bay as a foal. He has been trained and competed by Patrick van der Meer for the past four years. The Dutch rider showed Ultiem's Flemming at small tour level At the 2009 CDI Strassen and 2010 CDI Zwolle, for instance, he scored between 66 and 68% and at the 2010 CDI-W Amsterdam he achieved 70.
Ultiem's Flemming was Grand Prix ready but in agreement with the owner the horse left Van der Meer's stable in Naaldwijk, The Netherlands, in October 2010 to move to Kittel's barn in Germany to be sold.
Holzer is happy about her new ride. "He reminded me of Pop Art, but bigger," Holzer told Eurodressage. "He is beautiful and lovely to ride, very willing with a super temperament and incredible talent. He is a tremendous athlete."
Holzer will initially start him at small tour level but move up to Grand Prix in the near future.
"I feel extremely lucky to have him in my stable," she added.
