The KWPN breed society is treating foreign visitors of the 2011 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, 2 - 5 February 2011, to a special, optional education program and guided tour.
Especially for foreign visitors the KWPN society organizes a guided tour by bus accompanied by experts. Participants will visit highly interesting horse farms in Holland. The tour will take place on 6 February on Sunday following the KWPN Stallion Show. Stables included in the tour are those of Pieter Kersten (member of the Stallion Licensing Committee), Frenk Jespers, and Gert-Jan van Olst
Jasprs is the founder and a permanent jury member of the well known PAVO Cup (for young dressage horses 4-5 yrs old), and has been the dressage member on the Stallion Approval Committee of the KWPN for nine years. During those nine years he was also a selector of the Dutch young dressage horses for the World Championship in Verden, Germany. Frenk is the technical adviser and trainer of Broere Stud, where international dressage rider Kirsten Beckers trains famous stallions like Jazz. Since 2008 Frenk is the national dressage coach for Turkey.
The last stable on the tour is the jumping and dressage stable of Gert Jan van Olst and his wife and international top dressage rider Anne van Olst. Together they run Van Olst Stables, a stud farm where both jumpers and dressage horses are trained up to the highest level. Van Olst Stables owns horses from foal to Grand Prix as well as many well known KWPN-approved jumper and dressage stallions.
All these top stallion owners will give you an exclusive insight in their companies and will share their strategy and knowledge about breeding, training and selecting horses. The fee for the Guided Tour will be 45 € per person, including transportation, lunch, and beverages. If necessary one can be dropped off at 18.00u at Schiphol Airport so you will not miss your flight home! For others The Guided Tour ends at Den Bosch, where we started.
KWPN College
On Wednesday 2 February 2011 the KWPN College will start at 17.00 hours in the main arena. This year's subject is "testing performance". For the College the KWPN society made a selection of most interesting young jumper- and dressage horses as well as older, more proven horses. These will show you why the KWPN gave them got such high marks in the performance test.
Members of the stallion selection committee Daan Nanning and Wim Ernes, who is also a renowned international FEI dressage judge, will discuss the horses and the correlation between test results and future success.
Top Grand Prix Dressage rider Kirsten Beckers will attend the College with her International Grand Prix horse Broere Riondine. They will all make sure that the KWPN College will be a very interesting and entertaining evening!
