At the first phase of the 2011 Belgian Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Moorsele twenty-nine young stallions have been accepted for the third phase. The BWP Licensing kicked off on Thursday 20 January and on Saturday the colts were assessed
on their confirmation, movement in freedom and jumping potential.
Eighteen BWP branded show jumping colts, eight non-BWP bred jumpers and three foreign bred dressage stallions passed the first inspection and will be re-presented at the third phase held at equestrian centre De Warre in Neeroeteren on 16-19 March 2011.
For the first time, the BWP society did not proclaim a licensing champion after the first phase on Saturday, but it was obvious from the audience and licensing committee that Inshallah de Muze (by Nabab de Reve x For Pleasure) was the highlight of the collection. Though not ideal in his confirmation, the colt was the best jumper of the pack. Owned by Bart van Poucke and Valentijn de Bock, the Dutch duo Wiepke van de Lageweg and Kees van den Oetelaar immediately bought a 1/3 interest
in the young stallion.
The most exciting colt in the small group of dressage prospects was the Westfalain branded Special Agent Amour (by San Amour x Polidiktus van de Helle), bred and owned by Belgian Grand Prix rider Philip Jorissen. The other two accepted dressage stallions are Charlie (by Florencio x Osmium) and a nameless United x Londonderry colt.
Twelve colts were sold at the BWP Premium Stallion Auction and they achieved an average price of 15,333 euro. The best seller was Isaac van Orti (by Toulon) which sold for 32,000 euro.
