In a repeat of last year's decision the Dutch warmblood licensed stallion Totilas was proclaimed the KWPN Horse of the Year 2010 at the 2011 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
Breeders Jan and Anna Schuil of Broeksterwoude in the Friesland province were awarded the well-deserved Nimmerdor Trophy for the second consecutive year.
“After all, this is for Totilas,” said the proud breeders. “Last year, we were awarded the title in a whirlwind of excitement and were completely surprised; this time, we can thoroughly enjoy the experience. We feel so honored, and for us, this is a wonderful ending.”
On Sunday, the couple travelled to Germany to present the KWPN Horse of the Year cooler and Nimmerdorf Trophy to Paul Schockemöhle and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff, Totilas' current owners.
"I held a short speech that Nimmerdor is a famous stallion and Totilas carries his blood," said Jan Schuil. "Totilas also has Oldenburg blood in his dam line from the Freiminka-line. This makes the story complete at the centre of Oldenburg breeding in Vechta. Back to the roots."
