Edgar Schutte has been elected new president of the American Hanoverian Society at the 2011 AHS Annual Meeting held on February 4-6 at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower in Portland, Oregon.
Schutte is taking over the baton from Doug Leatherdale, who led the American Hanoverian Society for the past ten years.
"It is an honour to be elected the AHS President," Schutte told Eurodressage exclusively. "It is very nice to have such an experienced board behind me and enthusiastic members, the support has been amazing."
Schutte is passionate about the Hanoverian breed and ambitious about its promotion. He aims at strengthening the contacts between AHS members. "I like to better connect the members and equip them for success," he explained. "We have a tremendous wealth of experience and knowledge amongst our breeders. Not only connect them within our Society but also with the real world, the show world and ultimately with buyers for their prospects."
The American Hanoverian Society runs in close alliance with the German mother society. "It is fantastic that we have such a great working relationship with the Hanovarian Verband," said Schutte. "I embrace the Hanoverian aim and while upholding the great image of the Hanoverian I will be focusing on our US market. When our breeders thrive our society thrives!"
With an education in hotel management and a professional background in setting up a string of successful health clubs in the Sacramento area, Schutte is now full-time dedicated to the horse industry and runs Rainbow Equus Meadows which is located in the Sierra foothills in Lincoln California. The Schutte family currently stand seven popular stallions, including Escudo II and Pablo, and always has between 40-60 youngsters of all age groups for sale.
