Britsh triple silver WEG medalist Laura Bechtolsheimer was invited to hold a masterclass at Boneo Park Equestrian Centre on the Mornington Peninsula on Saturday 19 February 2011.
This was Laura's first and only appearance in Australia and her short visit generated much anticipation. During this Masterclass Laura gave demonstrations and also taught other elite dressage riders from across Victoria and interstate. "It is so exciting to be in Australia, even though it is only a short visit. The facilities, here at Boneo Park, are truly first class. The arena fits so perfectly into its surroundings. I hope to return again soon," said Bechtolsheimer.
Berni Saunder's Cyberhorse covered the masterclass on her website and wrote the following introductory paragraph to her article:
As a result of her fantastic Individual Silver and Team Silver medal performances at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, 2010, the 26 year old darling of the British Team now has the world’s dressage spotlight shining brightly on her and her equine partner -16-year old Mistral Hojris (Alf). Due to the hard work of Fiona McNaught, Managing Director of Boneo Park, her event manager, Julia Stewart and Andrew Bird of Credit Suisse, we were very fortunate to have someone as talented as Laura visit our shores to share her knowledge, passion and ethusiasm.
Many people and organisations have worked co-operatively to bring this much awaited event to Australia. Laura’s rise to fame is far from an overnight success and even though she is still young, she has spent years in training to achieve the sound background that took her into the Kentucky contest at very short bookmakers’ odds!
