Sunny skies re-emerged over the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank, CA for the final day of the Mid-Winter Dressage Fair CDI* where small tour riders gathered for the official Pan American Games selection trial classes. Although only two competitors chose to contest the Intermediaire I Freestyle, both Canadian riders demonstrated how they will be serious contenders for a spot on their country's Pan American Games team.
Dancing to the victory was Karen Pavicic riding her own Oldenburg gelding Don Daiquiri (by Don Cardinale) to a score of 72.417%, as fellow Canadian Dominique Culham Buckland, riding Denise Turner's 11-year old Utango DG (by Contango), closely followed with 70.333%.
"I'm very pleased with the progress both of these combinations have made with each day of this competition," noted Robert Dover, Canada's interim dressage team coach. "This is reflected in both riders scoring over 70% freestyles today in their first CDI outings of the year."
Meanwhile, Catherine Chamberlain rode her own 10-year old Dutch warmblood Verdicci to a freestyle victory with a score of 66.250% to close out the Young Rider division.
