Dutch WEG team gold medallist Imke Schellekens-Bartels has a new horse at her disposal. The Smarius family, owners of her top horse Sunrise, has given her the ride on their 6-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion Don Presidente.
The 2005 born chestnut stallion is by Dauphin out of State Premium Mare Floria Tosca (by Fabriano x Augustinus xx) and was licensed in Verden in 2007. He completed his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, finishing with the second highest dressage score.
The stallion has been standing at stud at Landsgestut Celle, where he was trained and competed by Eckart Wrede. In 2009 the combination became champion of the Lower Saxon regional championships for 4-year olds.
Don Presidente arrived at Bartels' Academy in Hooge Mierde, The Netherlands, on Monday 7 March 2011. "I've only sat on him twice in Germany, but I think he's a talented horse," Imke Schellekens told Dutch equestrian magazine De Hoefslag. "I will now focus on his trainer. I don't have clear goals yet, but I want to train him to small your level and then we'll see where it goes."
