Poul Graugaard, a spokesperson of the Danish Warmblood licensing committee, revealed the name of the new Stallion of Year during the 2011 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning, Denmark, on Sunday afternoon 13 March 2011.
Last year Blue Hors Romanov was awarded HRH Princess Benedikte’s Challenge Prize and this year he has been proclaimed Stallion of the Year 2011.
Blue Hors Romanov is one of the most used sires in Denmark and he owns a large share of the incredible success that Danish Warmblood has achieved in recent years as one of the leading studbooks producing dressage horses.
He was born in year 2000, branded Oldenburg, and bred by Mrs Harli Seifert, Germany. He is one of six licensed full brothers, among others “Rubin Royal” and “Blue Hors Rockefeller”.
Blue Hors Romanov himself has sired a number of licensed sons like “Skovens Rafael” (double young horse world championship finalist), “Tailormade Red Rebel”, “Blue Hors Rosoff”, “Rolan” and “Rosetti”.
He has sired 196 graded mares in Danish Warmblood of which nearly 70 % are main studbook mares. One of his most outstanding offspring is the 2009 world champion for 5-year-old dressage horses “Hønnerups Driver”.
