Top Australian horseman, Dr Andrew McLean will present this year’s British Horse Society Spring Convention on 24 May at Arena UK, Grantham. Andrew is an accredited horse riding coach, top selling author, very successful competitor and highly sought after speaker and trainer.

McLean teaches worldwide and is in great demand for his lectures and demonstrations. In addition to all that, he is founder of the Australian Equine Behaviour Centre. Through this centre he and his wife have developed a unique approach that combines classical training with an emphasis on scientific understanding of animal psychology and horse behaviour. The training emphasises relaxation, attentiveness and self carriage, is relevant to all types of horse and rider and can be applied to all disciplines and situations.

The programme for the convention will comprise a series of workshops in which Andrew will explain some of his learning and behaviour theory. There will be opportunities throughout the day for questions from the audience, however to ensure as many as possible are answered the Society asks that they be submitted in advance.

Tickets are priced at £38 for BHS Registered Instructors, £42 others. The event is open to all and the BHS would like to welcome everyone, from experienced competitors and coaches to those with a general interest in equestrianism. These days count as continual professional days (CPD) updates for BHS registered instructors. To book contact the BHS Training Department on 02476 840510 or email training@bhs.org.uk.

The Society is currently inviting applications for guinea pig horse and riders for the day. Do you or someone you know currently have a horse partnership issue or problem that you are struggling to solve? Whatever the partnership, whether you ride for pleasure or compete all applications are welcome.

Please send details of you and your horse, past achievements, stage of development and current problem to Alison Le Fevre at training@bhs.org.uk
