Equestrian Australia (EA), the national equestrian federation of Australia, has offered assistance wherever possible through its international governing body the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI)
, who will heading to Japan in the coming days to provide on the ground emergency assistance.
Equestrian Australia’s Chairman Paul Cargill said like other Australian organisations and community groups, EA will offer assistance to its friends and colleagues in Japan.
“We have been in contact with the FEI and have offered our support throughout this international crisis. The support we will be looking to offer may also extend to hosting members of the Japanese Equestrian Federation who may be looking for temporary accommodation,” he said.
The Equestrian Australia community will continue to provide assistance to its friends in Japan during this immediate crisis as well as in the vital rebuilding in the coming months and years – are thoughts remain with them during this difficult time.
"We have received word from our Japan colleagues, and while no lives were lost for those working at the headquarters in Tokyo, some clubs and sadly many horses were washed away during the tsunami.
"There is still no word officially as to lives lost and their immediate concerns are for their many clubs currently near the Nuclear Plants - horses and people have been moved outside of the zone,
"They continue to wait to hear for more information from their members still unaccounted for," said Cargill.
