At an extraordinary general assembly in Lausanne, Switzerland, the FEI allocated the 2013 World Cup Finals Dressage to Gothenburg. This was decided by the FEI Bureau during its meeting on 5 May 2011.
"This is fantastic news and proof of the confidence the FEI and riders have in our show," said Gothenburg Horse Show director Tomas Torgersen.
The Goteborg Horse Show will be hosting the World Cup Finals in Dressage and Show Jumping at the same time. The date has been set for 24 - 28 April 2013.
In 1982 the Göteborg Horse Show introduced dressage to the show program and in 1989 they hosted the first World Cup Dressage Final. Eleven thousand people saw Margit Otto-Crepin and Corlandus win the World Cup at the time. Since then the Final has been settled in Göteborg five more times, the last in 2003, when Debbie McDonald won the World Cup after Ulla Salzgeber got disqualified on doping charges.
