The 24-year old elite Trakehner stallion Herzruf (by Konigspark xx x Ginster x Komet) has been humanely put down on Friday 6 May 2011 as old age was affecting his mobility. Since 2005 he was standing at stud at Josef Bachl's station in Pfarrkirchen, Bavaria.
Herzruf was bred by Veronika von Schöning and is owned by Dr. Beate Ackermann. He was licensed in Neumunster in 1989 and won the 100-day Stallion Performance test in Warendorf with 149.6 points, winning both the dressage and show jumping leg of the test and scoring a 10 for rideability. As a 5-year old he won the South German Stallion Championships. Herzruf was trained to S-level, but was never extensively competed.
His versatility was amazing as Herzruf has successful offspring in all three disciplines of the international equestrian sport. Ulla Salzgeber's Herzruf's Erbe is probably his most well known son, but Payano is also an excellent representative in dressage. Golden Eye and Roxanne stood out in showjumping and Rabenklau in eventing. Payano and Linné are his two licensed sons.
Herzruf was proclaimed Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2004.
