Danish Princess Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and her long-time partner Alexander Johannsmann got officially married at Castle Berleburg in Germany on Saturday 18 June 2011.
The groom has no cold feet as the 33-year old Johannsmann already wed his 2011 World Cup Finals reserve champion Zu Sayn-Wittgenstein in a civil ceremony in May 2010.
Their son Konstantin was born on 24 July 2010.
However the major church wedding with all the pomp and circumstance was last weekend and it became well attended with 200 guest including several members of the international dressage scene. The wedding weekend started with a barbeque on Friday, following by the wedding ceremony and banquet on Saturday.
Besides a huge string of Danish royalty including Queen Margarethe of Denmark, the guest list included the Danish Olympic team bronze medal winners such as Anne van Olst as well as Dutch trainer Tineke Bartels and her daughter Imke Schellekens-Bartels with husband Joep.
A small "incident" took place at the wedding as the bride forgot to carry her bouquet into the evangelical church a stone's throw away from Castle Berleburg, where the family lives. With a police escort chamber maid Hanne Nielsen run back home to get the bouquet while the bride waited outside the church. The wedding was therefore postponed for fifteen minutes. The church ceremony led by vickar Claudia Latzel-Binder was in German but a Danish youth choir sang the hymns.
The Danish fashion designer Henrik Hviid signed for the wedding gown which was a white satin dress with a veil and the tiara came from the Danish Royal treasury.
