Belgian junior rider Eline de Coninck has to withdraw from participating at the 2011 European Junior Riders Championships next week following a minor riding accident in which she got injured. She was a Belgian team member with her Oldenburg gelding Don Warohn (by Dormello).
De Coninck's horse was frisky during a training session last week and made a simple buck. Unfortunately, Eline landed the wrong way in the saddle and injured her neck. She had to dismount with severe neck pain and it soon became clear she sustained a whip lash. De Coninck is not allowed to ride for a couple of weeks.
"I was told the bad news yesterday," Belgian chef d'equipe Laurence van Doorslaer told Eurodressage. "It's a great pity but I hope Eline will recover quickly. Everybody wishes her good strength and a speedy recovery."
Eline's spot will be taken by team reserve rider Loranne Livens on the bay gelding Vincent. On Monday 11 July 2011 Loranne already took part in a final team training session with O-judge Wim Ernes and she is ready to go to Denmark in Eline's place.
