2011 Pavo Cup Finals

Emmelie Scholtens and the chestnut KWPN stallion Charmeur (by Florencio x Jazz) have won the Pavo Cup semi-finals at the KWPN Paardendagen in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on Monday 8 August 2011.

There was no rest for the weary Dutch as it was straight from the 2011 World Young Horse Championships to Ermelo, where the annual Pavo Cup finals for 4 and 5-year old Dutch horses are being held. On Monday the 4-year olds came into the arena and 81 qualified youngsters tried to gain a spot in the finals. Because of the bad weather, the semi-finals were held in the indoor arena.

The semi-finals were dominated by 26-year old Emmelie Scholtens who placed first, second and third. Aboard Charmeur she scored the highest point total of 91,5. The 2010 performance test winner is owned by B. Tamerus and Nico Witte. Aboard the Andeweg family's and Ad Valk's black stallion Chinook (by Vivaldi x Havidoff) Scholtens ranked second with 89,5 points. With Sara Pocock's Hanoverian stallion Connaisseur (by Con Amore x Donnerhall) Scholtens slotted in third with 86 points.

Former young rider Diederik van Silfhout was fourth aboard the mare Codette (by Painted Black x Krack C) after he received 85,5 points from the panel of judges. Mirelle van Kemenade Witlox and the Jazz x Ferro licensed stallion Cachet L was fifith with 84.5.

The best represented stallion was Lord Leatherdale (by Lord Loxley x Ferragamo x Anmarch) with three offspring in the top 10.

The top 25 ranked horses are allowed to participate in the first round of the Finals, which are held on Thursday 11 August 2011.
