A region F/G dressage team qualification Event for the London Olympic Games will be held in conjunction with the 2011 Australian Dressage Championships.
The FEI Dressage Qualification Procedure for the 2012 London Olympic Games provides that the “2 best placed teams from the Olympic Group F/G from a FEI approved Asia Pacific Dressage Championship” qualify to send a team of three horses and riders plus a reserve to the Games.
The Groups include countries from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific region. Australia, Japan and New Zealand are likely to field teams at this event. Four riders will be selected to represent each country with the best three scores to count towards the Team result. (Please note that the horses/riders selected are not necessarily the athletes that will compete at the Games).
The Judging Panel includes: Mr Stephen Clarke, 5* Level Judge from Great Britain; Mr Gotthilf Riexinger , 5* Level Judge from Germany; Mrs Susan Hoevenaars – 5* Level Judge from Australia; Mr Raphael Salle, 4* Judge from France; Mrs Mariette Sanders van Gansewinkel, 4* Judge from the Netherlands.
The Regional Team Qualifier will be held in two parts. The Judges will travel to Sydney to judge selected athletes from Australia and New Zealand in the Grand Prix held at the Bates Australian Dressage Championships (27 to 30 October 2011 at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park). Following Sydney, the same Judges will judge other remaining athletes at a specially convened event in Ermelo in the Netherlands, to be held on 03 November.
The FEI will shortly thereafter advise which Teams have qualified for the London Games.
The Grand Prix competition will be held on Friday, 28 October 2011.
