In order to spice up the programme of the annual Danish Warmblood Elite Mare show in Vilhelmsborg, the organizers decided to hold a special dressage competition for 6 and 7-year old Danish bred dressage horses.
Torveslettens Stamina and UNO Donna Unique were the winners of this inaugural Youngster Cup held on 10-11 September 2011.
Tørveslettens Stamina (by Stedinger x Carano) won the 6-year old division under Andreas Helgstrand. A full sister of this year's gold medal mare Snowflake, gold medal mare Tørveslettens Stamina are a rare exception. They are the only two full sisters in Danish Warmblood both decorated with the desirable gold medal. Stamina, who has twice placed in the final of the World Championships in Verden, performed her best test ever and scored 10 for trot and capacity. She ended her test with a total score of 9.62.
UNO Donna Unique (by Blue Hors Don Schufro x Falkland) won the 7-year old division. The amazing gold medal mare UNO Donn Unique, performed a test which produced several 10’s and 9’s for her trot work. The mare has not been competed since she became the world champion for 6-year-olds in Verden in August 2010. Her only performance was at the gala show of the Danish Warmblood stallion licensing in Verden in March this year. UNO Donna Unique has also had a break from work which she spent grazing the fields at her breeders and co-owners. She proved to be in absolute top shape under Andreas Helgstrand at Vilhelmsborg.
UNO Donna Unique was not the only world class horse in the fianl for 7-year-olds. Anna Kasprzak rode her former world champion for 5-year-olds, Hønnerups Driver by Blue Hors Romanov x Blue Hors Don Schufro, and placed second. Driver displayed outstanding trot work and excellent lateral movements demonstrating his huge international potential.
