The Equestrian Federation of Ecuador has selected the dressage team that will represent Ecuador competing at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico on 16 - 19 October 2011. For the first time in history Ecuador is fielding a complete team. At the previous Pan Ams only an individual combination started.
The Ecuadorian team includes:
- Julio Mendoza riding Ivan, a 9-year old Friesian stallion, owned by David Deal
- Maria Montalvo riding Navargo, a 14-year old Oldenburg gelding, owned by Jorge Montalvo.
- Carolina Espinosa riding Amadeo, a 10-year old Argentinian warmblood gelding, owned by Francisco Egas.
- Franziska Klinkicht riding Porvenir, a 10 year old Argentinian warmblood gelding, owned by Cecilia Andrade.
The Ecuadorian team will be coached at the Pan Ams by trainer Joaquin Orth.
Orth has been training Espinosa in Ecuador but Mendoza and Montalvo are both based in the U.S.A. and have been preparing for the Pan Ams with their local coaches Uwe Steiner and Jorge Montalvo in the States. Franziska Klinkicht lives in Chile.
