The KWPN licensing champion Ampere (by Rousseau x Flemmingh) is the most used breeding stallion in Sweden in 2011. The bay stallion, which stands at stud at Jan Brink's Tullstorp stables, was bred to 141 Swedish mares in 2011 and beat his biggest competitor, the show jumper Cabachon.
Ampere, who is owned by American Fritz Kundrun, is the most popular stallion in Sweden, followed by his jumper colleagues Cabachon (by Casall - 139 mares), Cohiba (by Chacco Blue - 128 mares) and Corlensky (by Cornet Obolensky - 123 mares). For the 2011 season, 3,630 mares have been covered which is a drop compared to 2010.
Ampere's boost in breedings came after a successful first crop of foals this year as well as many of his foals doing well at breed shows and in the auctions in Holland and Germany.
The second most used dressage stallion is the KWPN bred Zuidenwind (by OO Seven x Jazz) who covered 114 mares, followed by KWPN stallion Bellagio (by United) who was bred to 107 mares.
