After his sudden resignation as head rider at Blue Hors Stud, the sympathetic 36-year old Sune Hansen has found a new future as a professional dressage rider, trainer and horse dealer at Hanne and Peer Ejlersgaard's stable near Århus, Denmark.
"I still really miss the horses (at Blue Hors), but now it's time to move on," a more cheerful Sune explained.
Sune and his wife, Antiguan Grand Prix rider Emily Ward, are starting up their own stable where they want to train horses, teach students, give clinics as well as deal in high quality performance horses.
Peer Ejlersgaard, who has his roots in 3-day eventing and whose sister Anette is a Grand Prix rider herself, has offered his barn as home base for Hansen and Ward. The facility has 10 boxes, big pastures, and a huge indoor and outdoor school.
"The plan is to build an extra stable for Emily and I with 14 boxes, plus another 6 boxes for clinicians," Sune explained. "I want to keep it small and exclusive to have time for the horses and the clients."
The addition will be ready in four months, but Hansen is starting his business straight away in the existing facility. Though top sport is the ultimate goal, Sune also wants to concentrate on training and selling horses.
"After the time at Blue Hors, where everything was about my own riding, I'm looking forward to helping others," said Sune, who also launched his official website at www.sunehansen.com
