Farewell III is the name of the eleven year-old Westphalian stallion with the distinctive Dressage ability, who had already stood out in the Young Horse Grand Prix, and is shining anew at this weekend's Ankum Dressage Tournament: Farewell III won the Short Grand Prix with Markus Gribbe from Lastrup with 72.84 percent, at the Ankum Auction Centre. And the competition was certainly tough.
Just behind the winning pair came Ellen Bodenkamp with ten year-old Oldenburg stallion Donner Hit OLD (70.08). Third place went to Michael Klimke (Münster) with Harmony's Calinus (69.87) and a real celebrity stallion came in fourth – Belissimo M – father of four national champions, including Blickpunkt, who came third in the World Championships. Australian Hayley Beresford presented the stallion in Ankum.
Beforehand, European Championship team runner-up Christoph Koschel from Hagen a.T.W secured a second victory in Ankum with Rostropowitsch. The duo were very convincing with 71.00 percent in the young horse Grand Prix. And just as on the day before, second and third places went to Stephan Köberle (Freiburg) and Darjeeling (68.25), and Bianca Kasselmann (Hagen a.T.W.) with Wish Wonders (66.16). In the S-class Dressage Test for amateurs, Charlotte Dassler (Bockhorn) claimed victory with William, ahead of Sandra Walther with Urban Legend. The Iserlohn-er went on to take third place with Doris Day and celebrated the double victory.
Farewell III does it again
Following on from their impressive performance in the Short Grand Prix, Westphalian stallion Farewell III and trainer Markus Gribbe (Lastrup) took first place in the Grand Prix de Dressage (72.90) on the third of four Ankum Dressage Club tournament weekends. The ADC Tournament in the Auction Centre of the Sport- and Seehotel finished with this championship classic. And just as was the case in the previous events, a large number of riders made the most of the opportunity to compete, and the sporting conditions that the venue offers.
Gribbe relegated Ellen Bodenkamp from Samern with Donner Hit OLD to second place. Bianca Kasselmann (Hagen a.T.W.) led Famous Boy, a 14 year-old Oldenburg gelding, into third place. The erstwhile German Professional Riders champion had already won the professionals' Prix St. George with 12 year-old mare Destination and a score of 71.23 percent. Markus Gribbe rode into second place with nine year-old Fidertanz.
The St. George equivalent for amateurs was won by Sandra Walther from Iserlohn with ten tear-old gelding Urban Legend, with a score of 70.35 percent. Sandra Walther brought two horses with her to the Ankum Dressage Tournament and collected numerous accolades, just like Greek rider Angela Sklavounous, who claimed second place with Quanderas.
