Liebling II, the Holsteiner gelding that won team silver at the 2010 World Equestrian Games and 2009 European Championships with British star Carl Hester, will now partner with Dominican rider Yvonne Losos de Muñiz in her bid to secure an individual berth for the 2012 Olympic Games.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to compete an experienced, talented Grand Prix horse such as Lenny in the upcoming season in Florida,” said Yvonne. “Carl had been telling me for some time the horse was a perfect match for me, since him and I ride very similar, and he was completely right. Lenny and I understood each other from the first day, it was a done deal. My trainer, Diederik Wigmans, also thought it would work out very well and that we could be competitive from the start. I am very grateful to John Risley for accepting me as a partner in this new challenge in Lenny´s career.”
For his part, Carl said “I am tremendously excited for Yvonne, I think it will be a very competitive combination. I´ll be working very closely with her and Diederik when I am in Florida in January, to make sure it all turns out well. I will be thrilled if Yvonne and Lenny qualify for the Olympics, I look forward to seeing them in London!”
Yvonne is looking to be the top-ranked rider in the FEI World Dressage Ranking for Olympic Group E, which includes most of Central and South America. The FEI reserves an individual spot for the combination with the highest points for the region, based in the scores obtained at CDIs up to February 2012.
Besides Liebling II, Losos de Muniz will also show Dondolo, her Pan Am mount, at Grand Prix level.
