Each year the KWPN breed society proclaims the KWPN Horse of the Year at the KWPN stallion licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. This year four dressage horses out of twelve nominees have been selected for the 2011 KWPN Horse of the Year title.
2011 European Championship star horses Parzival (by Jazz x Ulft), Scandic (by Solos Carex x Amiral), Uthopia (by Metall x Inspekteur) and Valegro (by Negro x Gershwin) are included in the line up.
The winner will be proclaimed on Saturday 4 February 2012. The breeder of the winning horse will receive the Nimmerdor Trophy and the owner a replica.
The winner is decided by public vote as well as an expert panel, consisting of colonel Bert Wassenaar, KWPN board member Siem Korver and KWPN inspector Ine van Deurzen.
The twelve nominated horses are:

- 5) Parzival (Jazz pref x Ulft keur, fokker J.M. Beijer-de Kleijn, Puiflijk)
- 6) Scandic (Solos Carex x Amiral, fokker H.G. Mosman-Rohe, Enschede)
- 7) Simon (Mr.Blue x Polydox, fokker M.J. Vermeulen, Altforst)
- 8) Taloubet (Galoubet A x Polydor, fokker C. Klaver, Schoorl)
- 9) Utascha SFN (Lux x Indoctro, fokker C. Bruers,AlphenNB)
- 10) Uthopia (Metall x Inspekteur, fokker J.J. van Zetten sr., Kesteren)
- 11) Valegro (Negro x Gershwin, fokker J.L. Hanse, Burg-Haamstede)
