The rising 19-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion White Star has been sold to Canadian Dave Thind and will stand in the United States. The chestnut dressage sire is highly acclaimed in the U.S.A. for his genetic versatility as the winner of the 2011 Hunter Sire of the Year
Award.
Born in 1993 at Mathias Ohmen's stable, White Star is by Weltmeyer x Glucksstern x Grande. He was the reserve licensing champion behind Graf Grannus at the Hanoverian Stallion Licensing and acquired there by the Landgestut Celle. In 1996 he won the 3-year old riding horse stallion class at the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, Germany. White Star has had wins all the way up to the S level in Germany and Denmark and will be lightly shown in the United States in 2012.
His famous offspring includes the 2007 6-year old Bundeschampionate bronze medallist White Kiss (under Marion Schleypen). In the U.S.A. daughter Whitney, ridden by Karen Lipp, finished third in 2010 at the American Young Horse Championships.
White Star has produced eight licensed sons including premium stallion Wunschtraumer, 37 State Premium mares (out of 127 of his daughters inspected for breeding) and a total of 45 horses selected as Verden Auction horses. As a dam sire, White Star has influenced the 2011 Swedish Dressage Champion Don Auriello and licensed sons Herzenwunsch and Stevie Wonder, as well as high priced auction horses such as Danny White.
The German stallion is set to arrive in the United States during February 2012, and will standing at Black Pond Veterinary Services in Norwell, MA.
"This once in a lifetime stallion is so special because of his personality. I actually tend to forget that he is a stallion because he is just easy going in every regard," stated owner Dave Thind.
"I would like to congratulate you on the purchase of White Star and this wonderful accomplishment. White Star is by a legendary sire, Weltmeyer, and bred from the dam line of Alferate, one of the most successful Hanoverian dam lines. His breeding success shows that his genes do not lie. He stands for very typical Hanoverian qualities like character, willingness to perform and soundness," stated Dr. Ludwig Christmann of the Hanoverian Verband, Verden, GER.
