Danish Grand Prix rider Thomas Dolleris Larsen will be taking over the job as Norwegian Focus Group Trainer for the Norwegian Grand Prix and upcoming FEI combinations.
After only 11 months on the job, Danish Leif Sørensen resigned from his position as Norwegian focus group trainer. Chef d'equipe Marianna Heltzen and branch leader Elizabeth Farbrot met with the riders on 20 March 2012 to discuss a new potential coach. They agreed upon the 40-year old Larsen, who accepted the position.
Sørensen will continue to travel to Norway to conduct some clinics but no longer as focus group trainer.
"I'm not a team trainer, I am the focus group trainer," Larsen clarified. "Team captain Marianne Heltzen who is responsible for the selection of the riders for international shows and championships and who is team leader. I can provide some input."
Larsen stated that the Norwegian riders are free to decide if they want to attend the training sessions or not. "What counts are results," Larsen said and stressed that he wants a bigger participation of the Norwegian riders at international shows.
"Our shared goal is to help us raise the bar, and that we can achieve even bigger base," Heltzen commented. "We are happy about the many riders who achieve good international results, but we have to create a follow-up and take care of the development. Everyone must pave the road. I hope we can continue to lift Norwegian dressage."
