IDRC Meeting at 2012 CDI Addington to Seek Opinions of All Riders on Ongoing Issues

Kyra Kyrklund, President of the IDRC, and Imke Schellekens-Bartels, Member of the IDRC Board, governed a general meeting at the Addington CDI3* on 6 April 2012.

Thirty people attended the meeting with participation from Young Riders, Junior Riders and Pony Riders as well as regular members.

Kyra opened the meeting with general information about the IDRC—its purpose and goals in representing all riders in the sport of dressage around the world.

The on-going dispute with the FEI over the nomination of a Riders Representative to the FEI Dressage Committee was discussed.

Everyone attending agreed that the riders themselves should have the right to choose their representative to the FEI Dressage Committee.

The current rule at World Cup events, and the general practice at many shows of displaying the running total during a test where the judges can view the scoreboard was discussed.

Participants voted unanimously against this practice of displaying the running score where it is visible to the judges due to the potential of creation bias in the judging.

The Olympic Grand Prix Special was discussed. It does not reduce the overall test time as originally planned. Riders find that the old test has more fluidity.

Participants voted in the majority to return to the old GP Special after the Olympic Games.

The IDRC will hold an Extraordinary General Assembly at Snowhill Farm, GBR, on Friday the 13th of April at 14.00. Members will be requested to vote in person or via telephone or email on the following subjects:

1) A change in the IDRC Statutes that would allow members to appeal if their membership is revoked by the club.
2) A change in the IDRC Statutes to accept international Para Riders as Full Members in the club.
3) The nomination of Catherine Haddad Staller (USA) to the IDRC Board.
