Anky van Grunsven will not be competing Salinero at the 2012 Indoor Brabant CDI-W in 's Hertogenbosch next Thursday 19 April due to fitness issues. Days after her announcement of Olympic contention with Salinero, Anky has to cancel her first CDI of the year.
Van Grunsven announced today that she withdrew her Olympic champion from her home show in Den Bosch because her 18-year old Hanoverian "is not in shape," which she told the regional media station Omroep Brabant.
Only four days ago, Van Grunsven and team trainer Sjef Janssen announced that Salinero will be contending for a Dutch Olympic team spot this year. "Salinero is top fit and still healthy," Janssen told newspaper De Telegraaf on Friday 13 April.
With Anky's withdrawal from Den Bosch other Dutch combinations, such as Imke Schellekens (Toots), Edward Gal (Romanov) and Patrick van der Meer (Uzzo) will be able to ride themselves more into the spotlight.
Van Grunsven, however, did confirm that she will be riding her horse at the 2012 CDIO Saumur on 26 - 29 April, where Bernard Maurel, Susanne Baarup, Peter Engel, Andrew Gardner, Wojtek Markowski, and Mariette Withages are scheduled to judge the CDI tour.
