Sissy Max-Theurer, mother of Austrian Grand Prix champion Victoria, has invested in the Grand Prix competed Hanoverian mare Blind Date (by Breitling W x Donnerhall). The mare will be added to Vici's string of Grand Prix horses, which includes her number one Augustin and Eichendorff.
The 10-year old Blind Date is bred by Margret Klare and was owned by Christian Heinrich and Wolfram Wittig. Brigitte Wittig trained and competed the chestnut mare from novice to Grand Prix level. In 2007 the mare won the first round at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden, but was withdrawn from the competition due to an injury. In 2009 she won the Nurnberger Burgpokal in Frankfurt and in 2011 she made her international Grand Prix debut.
The acquisition of Blind Date is part of Sissy Max-Theurer's plan to establish a training and ownership partnership with Victoria's current trainer Wolfram Wittig.
"We have planned a training co-operation with Brigitte and Wolfram Wittig, which also includes a partnership in owning several horses together," Sissy Max-Theurer told Eurodressage. "This means that Victoria will also ride horses of Brigitte and Wolfram once in a while, and vice versa. We want to merge our strengths and profit from this training system. This of course includes that our horses can be in their barn and theirs in ours."
Victoria Max-Theurer has always been trained by her father Hans Max, but in March 2012 she announced that Wolfram Wittig would be assisting her as well from the sideline.
"At the CDI Stadl Paura the new training generated a lot of very positive impulses and reactions," Sissy explained. "We believe we have turned on the right track now."
