Catoo, Shir Khan and Wellina were the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional show organized at Catharinenhof in Wedel, Germany, on 25 - 27 May 2012. Twelve horses in total were entered to compete in the Dressage Horses L and M level test in order to obtain a ticket for Warendorf.
The 5-year old division was split into two groups. Markus Suchalla and the 5-year old Holsteiner stallion Catoo (by Con Air x Caletto I) rode to a strong, winning score of 8.7 to claim victory in group 1. Steffen Frahm and the Hanoverian stallion Deveraux (by Depardieu x Donnerhall) were the runners-up with 8.4.
In Group 2, Kristiina Piiroinen and the Oldenburg gelding Shir Khan (by Samarant x Rubinstein) reigned supreme and won the class with an 8.5 score. Klaus Schrader and the Hanoverian stallion Lord Poinsettie (by London Swing x Werther) were close on their heels with 8.4.
All four of the competing 6-year olds scored 8.0 or higher and qualified for Warendorf. The winner of the M-level test was Anika von Holdt aboard the Holsteiner mare Wellina (by Crawford x Schampus xx) with 8.3. Danish born Martin Christensen finished second on the Hanoverian stallion Santander (by Sandro Hit x Weltmeyer) with 8.1.
