French pony chef d'equipe and Grand Prix rider Alizee Froment has been forced to the sideline after re-injuring herself riding a frisky youngster right after coming back from the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden.
Froment rode a young horse who jumped around blowing off steam. Though Alizee stayed on the horse the acrobatics damaged Froment's legs and back. Alizee re-injured an earlier cracked vertebrae in her back, as well as her adductors which have been severly torn in the past.
The rider has to stay in the rehabilitation centre for six weeks and sees her entire autumn show schedule go up in smoke. "No French Championships and CDI Arezzo for me this year," Froment told Eurodressage.
Froment is currently in a specialized sports' athletes clinic and rehabilitation centre called CERS St. Raphaël, famous for the many soccer players convalescing there.
Froment's specialized therapy at the centre includes cryotherapy, balneotherapy, tecatherapy, bicycling, muscle building therapy, physiotherpy, swinning, and massages.
"My days are well filled here," Froment explained. " I hope I will be back by the middle of October. I am working really hard for that!"
