The Hanoverian elite stallion De Niro (by Donnerhall x Akzent II x Wiesenbaum xx) has topped the WBFSH Dressage Sire Ranking for 2012. De Niro's offspring has been most successful at Grand Prix level the past year.
With a clear distance to his rivals the Oldenburg stallion Donnerhall was in the lead of the dressage sire ranking for a number of years until KWPN stallion Jazz took over the first place of the rankings and held his position for several years. This year Donnerhall's son De Niro has taken over the reigning position referring Jazz to the runner-up rank.
1993 was a remarkably strong year in German breeding with foals which would prove to become influential sires even at an early age. De Niro was one of them and Trakehner stallion Gribaldi, who now claims 3rd position in the dressage sire ranking, was another of the star colt foals born in Germany that year. From the same crop came the top sires Don Schufro and Sandro Hit and these two Oldenburg stallions have entered the dressage sire ranking's top ten for the first time. Don Schufro as 7th whilst Sandro Hit can be found on rank number 10.
