The 10-year old Hanoverian mare Diva Royal, her trainer Dorothee Schneider and her owner Stella Charlott Roth were the recipients of the 2012 Otto Lorke Prize, awarded annually at the CDI Stuttgart to the most successful upcoming Grand Prix horse in Germany.
Diva Royal is bred by Heinz Braul and is by Don Frederico out of a Warkant dam. She sold at the 2006 Hanoverian Spring Elite Auction in Vechta. The black mare came into the Roth ownership in 2009.
Under young Stella Charlott she won team gold at the 2010 European Young Riders Championships. In 2011 Roth and Diva Royal participated in the Piaff Forderpreis Finals. In 2012 trainer took over the reins and showed the mare at the 2012 Olympic Games in London to win team silver. Roth climbed back into the saddle in the autumn of 2012 and just won the 2012 Piaff Forderpreis Finals.
The Otto Lorke Prize is in memory of the legendary German rider and trainer (1879-1957). The Dressage Committee of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) picks the winner each year. Diva Royal follows in the footsteps of Rembrandt, Gigolo, Farbenfroh, Satchmo, Dablino, El Santo, Don Johnson and Desperados.
