The 14-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion Falsterbo passed away after a severe colic attack. The liver chestnut was imported into the U.S. by Sharon Garner and as of 2012 stood at Noiles' Wood Lane Farm in Maryland.
"There will forever be a void at the farm as a result of your absence," Esther Noiles of Wood Lane Farm wrote about Falsterbo's passing. "Your presence was larger than life and we are all the better for having known you. You were truly a gift to us, a gift we will forever treasure."
Falsterbo was by Fidermark x Brentano II x Fruhlingsball. He was initially owned by Jens and Susanne Meyer and stood at stud in Germany at Meyer's farm in Dorum. The temperamental stallion was trained and competed by Inga von Helldorff, Jonny Hilberath and Steffen Frahm, before moving to the United States.
In October 2010 Falsterbo moved into training with California based rider David Blake, who competed him at international small tour level in 2011. In November 2011 it was announced that Falsterbo would retire from competition and move to Wood Lane Farm to stand at stud.
"He was such a special character, but we have had much fun and we learnt much how intelligent a horse can be," Susanne Meyer told Eurodressage. "Jonny said about him, 'if Falsterbo had had one cerebral convolution extra, he would certainly have been a mathematics professor!'."
Falsterbo's most famous offspring include the Bundeschampionate finalist Flynn PCH (by Falsterbo x Walt Disney). The sire has three licensed offspring (Fitzgeraldos, Flynn PCH, Florimon) and he produced three state premium mares.
