2012-2013 KNHS CHIO Cup

Dutch junior rider Jasmien de Koeyer and young rider Stephanie Kooijman are the winners of the first leg of the 2012-2013 KNHS CHIO Cup show circuit, which kicked off at equestrian centre De Kroo in Nieuw en St. Joosland, The Netherlands, on 30 December 2012. The CHIO Cup is a special show circuit for Dutch junior and young riders which serves as selection and observation trials for CDI participation.

A small group of only 15 riders rallyed in the junior riders' division, which was won by Jasmien de Koeyer aboard Tim Coomans' Take it Easy (by Florestan). The former pony rider scored 70.68% to top the leader board. Sanne Gilbers and her German bred Bud Spencer (by Biotop) were the runners up with 68.24, while 2012 Dutch pony team rider Lotte Meulendijks made a smooth transition to junior riders' level to finish third with Parola (by Pasolongo) posting a score of 67.52%.

In the young riders division Stephanie Kooijman made a successful come back after having been sidelined for months following a stable accident in which she fractured her shin bone. Aboard her black KWPN gelding Winston (by OO Seven), which was kept in shape by Tineke Bartels, Kooijman scored a whopping 72.59% to take hom the trophy. Routinier Anne Meulendijks and her 16-year old Ohio (by Indoctro) were on Stephanie's heels with 72.24%. Emma Peper and Westenwind (by Werner) slotted in third with 69.82%.

"It's a great way to conclude the year and a boost that it went so well so quickly," said Kooijman, who was three months off due to her injury. "Since December I slowly started to ride again, walk and cool down my horse for Tineke. Winston could have been a bit quicker in the test but I'm very happy."
