The Dutch Equestrian Federation and Dutch chef d'equipe Tineke Bartels have decided to change the criteria for pony, junior and young riders to be submitted to the Dutch A and B-teams.
The reason to change the criteria is because the level of riding both nationally and internationally has increased and competition in The Netherlands is high. The new criteria were instated on 1 January 2013.
To become part of the Dutch A-team, pony, juniors and young riders have to score 69% a minimum of three times within a 6 month period at a team observation competitions (such as the FEI Pont Cup and CHIO Cup show circuit). To become part of the B-team, riders have to achieve 67% three times within six months.
Furthermore, any Dutch youth rider who wishes to compete internationally needs to have achieved 63% twice in a national team or individual test within nine months before the international competition.
