Ulrik Sørensen has been appointed the new Danish Junior and Young Riders team trainer by the Danish Equestrian Federation. He will be succeeding Jon D. Pedersen, who to his own surprise was thanked for his services after seven years on the job, by the Danish Federation via email in December 2012.
Sørensen is the former Norwegian youth riders coach, a job which he carrer out from 2005 till 2012. He will now be heading the Danish junior and young riders team and assist them with their training at national clinics and international shows.
"I am excited to get started and build on the good work, which has laid the foundation for the high level of dressage by the Danish Youth riders," Sørensen commented. I want to focus at spotting talent to broaden the base so that we can build a big and strong team. The focus will also be on inter-changing ideas with the riders, their parents and trainers because talent is strengthened in the daily training. Together we'll be setting up a realistic training and competition plan so they are able to meet the objectives. It's important to develop young talent for a strong senior career."
Jens-Erik Majlund, secretary-general of the Danish Equestrian Federation, stated that "Ulrick is a great trainer and we are happy that he said yes to continuing the big development Danish junior and young rider dressage has underwent in recent years. Ulrik has much experience working with talented and elite riders within this age group and his training methods follow our work method and strategy."
Sørensen runs his own equestrian facility, Skanderborg Equestrian Center, with his wife and their two children.
